According to my math I got nearly 19mpg this week, and I'm currently only at a half a tank! Not bad for a pickup with the least efficient V6 that Ford ever made.
Truth be told, I drive in a lot of heavy traffic and I like to hyper mile. So most of those miles were either in neutral or below 2k rpm. So that MPG makes a bit of sense

Your mother was a Kia Soul and your father smelt of badly tuned edlebrocks!

Your meme? I assume it's a reference to the French taunting scene in the Holy Grail?
The quote is "I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"

That's probably a good thing. I remember too much. I have a near constant urge to randomly quote whole Python scenes that no one else remembers.
Maybe that's why I have no friends.............

So many good scenes in Monty Python. I wish I could remember more

I read somewhere that the slight aerodynamic advantage a truck cap gives is negated by the additional weight of the cap. As far as hypermiling goes, and you might already know this just don't stop at stop lights. Roll up until they turn green.

Ya I know about truck cap, I have it on there because I need lockable storage for when I take my art pieces down into the city. I actually didn't know about rolling up to stop lights. I actually did that tonight, I should do it more

You could design and fabricate a cap with a 20ish degree angle from the cab to the tailgate and have it so the roof can pop up for a normal cap shape. Could be a fun project. I don't need cargo space too often so I'm building a conduit frame that I'll cover in plastic.

I would totally do that if my asthma didn't prohibit me from working with fiberglass. For now this works. But after I graduate, that fucker is coming off.

Is your truck EFI? If so, you might want to try not coasting in neutral. The ECU should shut the injectors off completely if you coast in gear and let the vehicle momentum keep turning the engine. If you go into neutral, you have to burn fuel to keep the engine running. A friend of mine that didn't drive for 30+ years bought a Honda Fit (manual!) after he retired and moved back to Texas. He's a geek, so he tracks his MPG relentlessly. He noticed a 2.25 MPG improvement by coasting in 5th rather than neutral.
If you're carbureted, then it doesn't matter.
